- Well I suppose that I can now say that I am AWARD WINNING(!), having just been notified that I've won both the 1st and 2nd place awards in the Best Original Editorial Cartoon category for non-daily papers in the National Newspaper Association's 2008 annual awards. Scroll on down to see which ones were the winning cartoons. I just discovered that this appears an ALL blogs that I have created so the only one that the scrolling down will apply to is my political cartoon blog 'ifthiswasarealemergency'. You can figure it out, can't you?
NIPOMO HILLS
The painting " NIPOMO HILLS " by Alfred Mitchell, c. 1950 - appears on the cover of the Brian Wilson / Van Dyke Parks compact disc "ORANGE CRATE ART" which was released in 1995. The area in this painting can be seen directly across the freeway from the Santa Maria Speedway, which is actually in Nipomo.
